Thousands packed the stands and grounds of the Dalby Showgrounds Precinct over three days of proceedings which began early Friday morning with the Dalby Stock Horse Sale Open Draft and Sale Incentive Program.

 

This year’s Draft featured an excellent line of cattle provided by Oakey Beef Exports and Acland Pastoral.

 

Former Darling Downs Branch President Rick Young, on SODA BRADMAN - HSH, did himself and his Branch proud taking out this year’s title in the Martin’s Open Draft with a score of 183.

 

Richard Pfingst on LYNBROOK GRETCHEN - HSH followed closely with 177 and Mark Sherlock on BELLMERVILLE DELLRAY - HSH with 175.

 

Darling Downs Branch veteran and Committee stalwart Gwen Macmillan bestowed the honour on this years’ Donrica Stock Horse Stud Gelding Incentive winner Cody Ryan and BRENWON STRETCH - HSH for a score of 170.

 

16yr old Cody is the son of Darling Downs Branch President Jim and Bec Ryan and a hard working Committee Member in his own right. The Darling Downs Branch extends their sincere congratulations to this next generation Society Member who has had an excellent year resulting in this success on home ground.

 

Daniel Richards was only a tick behind Cody with 169 on PERKINS SUNDANA - HSH and Brad Mourilyan and VALEVIEW FORTY EIGHT DEGREES coming in third with 161.

 

Pete Comiskey and BAR NONE RELIABLE SKILL took out the 2015 Aged Champions - 6 Years & Over Sale Incentive Campdraft with 169. Jacqueline Aitken came a close second on TURNERS STUD CATO - HSH with 165 and Daniel Cheers 3rd on JACPOT GRILA - HSH with 152.

 

Karl Burton and SWEET DASH TO DESTINY scored 158 to take out the Furure Champions - 5 Years & Under Sale Incentive Campdraft Raig Sheppard and CLOVELLY CLEO with 149 came in second and Craig Davison on PAPELLE scored third with 104.

 

Karl went on to take out the ’Beresford Saddlery Best of the Best Shoot Out’ against Gelding Incentive winner Cody Ryan and Aged Champions winner Pete Comiskey in a nail biting culmination to this year’s Sale Incentive and Open Draft Program.

 

In an ironic twist, Cody later invested his winner’s cheque into the purchase of Karl and Felicity Burton’s Diamond K Performance Horses 3 year old Gelding Lot 150 RANGEHILL JACKPOT - HSH.

 

The tireless efforts of Announcer Lyn Litzow, Open Judge Tim Carlill, Incentive Judge Stephen Sheppard, the Sponsors and hard working Committee have once again ensured that the Dalby Stock Horse Sale Open and Incentive Draft Program were professionally executed for a cracking end to the 2015 Calendar.

 

The Darling Downs Branch, as conveners of the Dalby Stock Horse Sale since 1974, coordinate the Sale weekend events, including the Open and Sale Incentive Draft Program, live entertainment in the arena, trade site vendors and bar and fine dining.
